Product Overview

Talstar Select Insecticide, manufactured by FMC Technologies, is a strong repellent insecticide against turf pests such as billbugs and armyworms from indoor and outdoor ornamentals, and turf on golf courses.

Contains the active ingredient bifenthrin 7.9%, which quickly eliminates pests within 24 to 48 hours by interfering with their nervous systems leading to paralysis then eventual death. When dried, this long-lasting suspended concentrate creates a non-visible chemical barrier for up to 30 days.

Talstar Select Insecticide is a dependable insecticide that creates an immediate pest control solution without omitting offensive odors and damaging plants.

Tools Needed

Talstar Select Insecticide can be applied with either a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Talstar Select Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Depending on the pest infesting the ornamentals, apply between 5 to 40 fl. oz. of Talstar Select Insecticide per 100 gallons of water. For turf on golf courses and sod farms, use 10 to 20 fl. oz. of product in 100 gallon of water per acre. Refer to the label for specific application rates.
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add measured amount of Talstar Select Insecticide, then add in the remaining half of water. Close the sprayer tank and shake until the solution is mixed.
• Step 3: Broadcast the mixed Talstar Select Insecticide until the top and bottom of foliage leaves are wet, but not to the point of runoff. A repeat application, seven days after the first, may be necessary to achieve control. To ensure optimum control, delay watering (irrigation) or mowing for 24 hours after application.

Where to Use

Talstar Select Insecticide can be used for commercial non-food use on indoor and outdoor ornamentals, greenhouses, nurseries, turf on golf courses and sod farms.

When to Use

Use Talstar Select Insecticide when well-established turf and ornamentals are being infested with pests or prior to pest activity. Turf should be at least an inch of height before treatment of this product.

Do not make applications when rainfall is expected to occur within 24 hours of treatment.

Safety Information

Talstar Select Insecticide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Do not allow people or pets on treated surfaces until the spray has dried.

Special Considerations

To control billbugs, applications of Talstar Select Insecticide should be made when adult billbugs are first observed during April and May.
